The project has been approved for a grant by the Nordic Council of Ministers' education co-operation program Nordplus 2021 adult education sector.

Environmental responsibility and green skills are necessary for everyone to carry out their professional activities in accordance with sustainable environmental development and energy-efficient management, as well as to make environmentally friendly and green decisions on a daily basis.

The aim of the project is to promote the integration of topical environmental issues and green skills in adult education by developing and pilotinga a non-formal education program and teaching materials for adult educators.

 

Project implementation time: September 1, 2020 - February 28, 2023.

Project partners: Three Baltic States educational institutions are involved in the implementation of the project: Zemgale Region Human Resource and Competence Development Center (Latvia), Siauliai City Municipality Education Center (Lithuania) and Valga County Vocational Training Center (Estonia).

Project activities:

  1. Identification of the needs of the project partner organizations on environmental education and green skills to be included into the non-formal education program. Based on the needs of partner organizations, a non-formal education program will be created for teachers involved in adult education.

  2. Development of study materials for the implementation of the program. Ther material will comprise themes on current topical environmental education issues, approaches to integrating environmental education issues into adult education programs and media literacy.

  3. Piloting of the developed program and teaching materials by a group of adult educators (15 participants in each partner organisation).

  4. Dissemination of the project results.

 

Project results:

  1. Developed a joint adult education program and study material on environmental issues and green skills for adult educators in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.

  2. Piloting of the program providing an opportunity for adult educators to expand their knowledge and understanding of the environmental issues and their integration into everyday learning process.

  3. Improved professional competence of adult educators on environmental education issues.

 

The total cost of the project is 33 225.00 euros, which is 100% covered by the Nordplus program grant.
